Issue #1: Why I'm Here (And Why I'm Not Going Anywhere)

I've had a career that doesn't follow a straight line, and I've come to think that's a good thing.

McGill University. A manufacturing company. Sales leadership in tech, SaaS, medical devices. Along the way, I learned what separates organizations that actually deliver from ones that just have good decks. I learned how to read a room, build relationships, and tell pretty quickly whether a product is something you'd stake your reputation on.

When I joined Eddy Floor Tools as General Manager in February 2023, I staked mine.

Three and a half years later, I have zero regrets.

A Company That's Been at It Since 1991

Eddy Floor Tools has been manufacturing professional floor removal tools in North America since 1991. That's over three decades of engineering, iteration, and listening to the people who actually use these tools for a living, with locations near Montreal and near Miami so we can back up contractors across Canada and the U.S. with equal speed.

That kind of longevity doesn't happen through flashy marketing. It happens because the products work and the team behind them cares about getting it right. In 2018, a new strategic mandate was set to grow Eddy into the industry leader it deserves to be. I came on board in 2023 to help drive that next chapter. Walking into that mandate, with this product line, this team, and this much runway was the easiest yes I've ever said.

Why This Path Made Sense for Me

I started my career as an entrepreneur, founding and running Comac Corporation Inc., a commercial hand dryer manufacturer. So I understand what it means to put your name on a product and stand behind it every day.

From there I moved through sales leadership in tech, SaaS, and medical devices. Every stop taught me something different about how organizations grow and how trust gets built..or lost in a market.

Eddy is where those threads come together. A manufacturer with serious engineering credentials, a genuine commitment to the trades, and the ambition to match its potential. It gives me the chance to do what I love most: talk to people, solve problems, and be part of something that makes their working life genuinely better. I'll take that over a good deck any day.

What PJ's Corner Is Going to Be

Every two weeks, I'll be here. Some posts will be practical: tool tips, blade selection, job site advice. Some will be more like this one: conversations about the industry and the craft. And some will be news you can actually use.

Like right now, for instance.

A Note for Contractors: We've Got Something On for You

We know what it's like out there. Costs up, timelines tight, margins squeezed. The trades are working harder than ever, and at Eddy, we want to show up for the people who show up every day.

Right now we're running a special promotion for contractors. A bundle offer designed to put more value in your hands on the tools and consumables you're already buying. Head to eddyfloortools.ca or reach out to me directly. I mean it when I say I answer.

And this is just the start. More promotions and product news are coming. I'll be sharing it all right here. Stay close.

The best part of this job is the conversations. Flooring and demo professionals are some of the most skilled, straight-talking people in any industry, and I've learned as much from them as I've ever taught.

If you have a question, a topic you'd like me to cover, or just want to talk shop, you know where to find me. I'll be the one having a suspiciously good time talking about floor scrapers.

Thanks for reading. Back in two weeks.

PJ's Corner publishes every second week at eddyfloortools.ca. Have a question or a topic idea? We'd love to hear from you.
